Understanding the Differences: Tivimate vs Tivimate Companion

If you’re setting up Tivimate for the first time or thinking of upgrading to Premium, you’ve probably come across the term “Tivimate Companion.”

While they’re closely related, Tivimate and Tivimate Companion serve very different purposes. Knowing the difference can save you frustration during setup and ensure you’re using each app the right way.

What is Tivimate?

Tivimate is the IPTV player itself — it’s what you install on your streaming device (Firestick, Android TV, Nvidia Shield, etc.) to watch live TV, movies, and series via your IPTV service.

Key Features of Tivimate:

  • Clean EPG-based interface
  • Playlist support (M3U, Xtream Codes)
  • Program guide and catch-up
  • Premium options like multiple playlists, favorites, backups, and more

🛑 Note: Tivimate is just a player — it doesn’t come with any content or channels of its own.

What is Tivimate Companion?

Tivimate Companion is a completely separate app — available only on Android phones and tablets via the Google Play Store — used to manage your Tivimate Premium subscription.

You cannot activate Tivimate Premium directly inside the Tivimate player. Instead, you use the Companion app to:

  • Purchase or upgrade your Premium license
  • Log in with your Google account
  • Activate devices under your subscription

⚠️ You only need to use Tivimate Companion once (or when managing devices). It is not for streaming.

Why Can’t I Find Tivimate Companion on Firestick?

The Tivimate Companion app is not available on Fire TV or Android TV devices — it’s limited to phones and tablets that support Google Play Billing.

If you’re using a Firestick, you must:

  1. Use an Android phone/tablet with Google Play
  2. Download Tivimate Companion
  3. Purchase your license and log in
  4. Then return to your Firestick and sign into Tivimate with the same account

Once activated, Premium features unlock across all devices under the same Google account

What About the Unofficial Workarounds?

Some users use modified versions of Tivimate or external tools to activate Premium without Companion. This is not recommended:

  • You risk instability, crashes, and broken updates
  • Your data may not be secure
  • You may miss out on official support and updates

Stick with the official method — it’s safer and more reliable long term.

Final Summary

Tivimate and Tivimate Companion work hand in hand: one plays your content, the other unlocks its premium features. Understanding their roles helps ensure a smooth setup.
