Set Up Cloud Backup for TiviMate on Firestick (Dropbox & Google Drive Guide)
If you’ve ever lost your playlists, EPG data, or carefully organized groups after reinstalling TiviMate, you know how frustrating it can be.
Luckily, there’s a smarter way to protect your setup — cloud backups.
Instead of saving your backups only on your Firestick (which can get wiped during a reset), you can store them safely in Dropbox or Google Drive.
That means you can:
-
Restore your TiviMate setup instantly after reinstalling.
-
Move your setup to another Firestick in seconds.
-
Never lose your playlist URLs, catch-up settings, or customizations again.
In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how to back up and restore TiviMate using Dropbox or Google Drive — directly on your Firestick, no computer required.
🧰 What You’ll Need
Before starting, make sure you have:
✅ A Firestick with TiviMate installed
✅ Internet connection
✅ Either Dropbox or Google Drive account
✅ A file manager app — we’ll use X-Plore (recommended)
✅ Downloader app (to sideload if needed)
Everything in this guide can be done using your Firestick remote.
⚙️ Step 1: Install Dropbox or Google Drive
Since the Firestick Appstore doesn’t officially list Dropbox or Google Drive, you’ll need to sideload one of them.
-
Open Downloader on your Firestick.
-
Enter this URL (for example):
-
Dropbox:
https://www.dropbox.com/android/download -
Google Drive:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/drive/
-
-
Install the app when prompted.
-
Once installed, sign in with your account credentials.
💡 Tip: If the interface looks too small on your TV, use the “Mouse Toggle” app to click the login fields.
📂 Step 2: Find Your TiviMate Backup File
Next, you’ll locate TiviMate’s local backup.
-
Open TiviMate.
-
Go to Settings → Backup & Restore → Create Backup.
-
Choose “Local Backup.”
-
TiviMate will save a file like this:
tivimate_backup_2025.dbinside:
/Android/data/ar.tvplayer.tv/files/backup/
To confirm, open X-Plore File Manager, navigate to that folder, and you should see your new backup file.
☁️ Step 3: Upload Backup to the Cloud
Now, we’ll move the backup file to Dropbox or Google Drive.
Using X-Plore (Recommended)
-
Open X-Plore.
-
On the left panel, browse to:
/Android/data/ar.tvplayer.tv/files/backup/ -
On the right panel, select Add Cloud Storage → Dropbox or Google Drive.
-
Sign in to your account and allow access.
-
Highlight your backup file, press Copy, and X-Plore will upload it.
✅ You’ll now see your TiviMate backup safely stored in the cloud.
🔁 Step 4: Restore Backup on Another Firestick
When you set up a new Firestick or reinstall TiviMate, restoring your settings is simple:
-
Install TiviMate and X-Plore again.
-
Add the same Dropbox or Google Drive account in X-Plore.
-
Copy the
.dbfile from your cloud folder back to:/Android/data/ar.tvplayer.tv/files/backup/ -
Open TiviMate → Settings → Backup & Restore → Restore from Backup.
-
Select your
.dbfile and confirm.
TiviMate will reload your:
-
Playlists
-
EPG configuration
-
Channel groups
-
Favorites
-
Catch-up settings
It’s like you never left your old device.
🔄 Step 5: Optional – Automate Backups
You can take it a step further and make this process automatic.
Both X-Plore and File Commander support folder synchronization:
-
In X-Plore, go to Menu → Tools → Synchronize.
-
Select your local backup folder and choose your Dropbox/Drive folder as the sync target.
-
Set it to run every 24 hours.
Your Firestick will now automatically upload your newest TiviMate backup — completely hands-free.
Troubleshooting
Can’t find the backup folder?
→ Open TiviMate and create a new manual backup first — that folder won’t appear until you do.
File not uploading?
→ Check X-Plore’s permissions under Settings → Apps → X-Plore → Files & Storage → Allow Access to All Files.
Restore fails?
→ Make sure you copied the backup to the correct folder path and not /Download/ or /Documents/.
🧠 Summary
You now have a fully portable cloud backup system for TiviMate on Firestick.
Next time you upgrade your Firestick or reinstall your app, you’ll be ready to restore everything in seconds — no setup, no lost playlists, no stress.
💬 Pro Tip: Keep a copy of your backup file in both Dropbox and Google Drive for extra safety.
